(At my house, I cannot get this channel anymore, as we were forced to give up cable due to poor bandwidth issues and move to the better performing Directv. Sorry Tim.)
Fern Shubert Speaks for Us Published by admirers of former Senator Fern Shubert. Shubert served the ole' North State well, until stepping down from her office to make a run for Governor in 2004. While she is greatly missed from office, she knows where the "bodies are buried" and is still found digging up the truth.

President B. H. Obama did something right...or left. Since the current "President" and the late President Ronald Reagan were both left-handed, it seemed fitting that Obama signed the bill creating a Reagan tribute with his left hand. (photo: copyright 2009 Reuters)
Nancy Reagan, the late President's widow, looked on during the signing. Your blogger asks for prayers for the former first lady, as she looked weak and frail. As much as our former President was loved, no one loved him more than she did.
The bill creates a panel to plan and carry out events to honor Reagan’s 100th birthday in 2011. He died in 2004.
According to Reuters:
Obama slowly escorted the 87-year-old Reagan into the White House Diplomatic Room for the ceremony, as she clutched onto his arm and walked with a cane.
His remarks were almost Reaganesque.
“President Reagan helped as much as any president to restore a sense of optimism in our country, a spirit that transcended politics — that transcended even the most heated arguments of the day,” Obama said.

Thanks to the entire State GOP staff for working so hard to prepare for this convention. Your blogger is excited to be part of the host delegation and hopes that everyone has a fine time, despite the politicking going on for the top spot on the ballot.
Former NCGOP chairman, Frank Rouse, in his weekly e-mail column "Frankly Speaking", submitted the following:
Sue Myrick, Member of the U. S. Congress, from the Ninth Congressional District of N. C. has endorsed Tom Fetzer for Chairman of the N. C. Republican Party. Myrick joins a long list of N. C. Republican Leaders backing Fetzer.
(Other) Republican Leaders backing Fetzer include, former Governor James Holshouser, former U.S. Senator Lauch Faircloth, former Lt. Governor and U.S. Congressman Jim Gardner.
Former gubernatorial candidates Richard Vinroot, Patrick Ballentine, Fred Smith and Bill Cobey (are also supporting Mr. Fetzer). Cobey is a former U.S. Congressman and former state chairman of the NCGOP.
10th District Congressman Patrick McHenry and 3rd District Congressman Walter Jones. Current Republican National Committeeman, State Rep. David Lewis supports Fetzer. Former Supreme Court Chief Justice Beverly Lake and former Court of Appeals Judges John Tyson and Eric Levinsonhave endorsed Fetzer.
There are several other Fetzer supporters of note including Chuck and Laura Neely, Ferrell and Linda Blount, Bob and Linda Shaw and Frank and Jane Rouse. Maybe the most important endorsement of all, (is) Mrs. Jesse (Dot) Helms.
Your blogger has previously endorsed Tom Fetzer for State Chairman.
In other news, Rouse reports that the libel suit against talk radio host, Curtis Wright and others was filed on Monday, June 1.
