NC State Chancellor Resigns Over Easley Scandal

N.C. State University Chancellor James L. Oblinger resigned this morning after months of investigations by the Carolina Journal and by the Raleigh News and Observer.  Read the ever-changing story, here.


On Sunday, the News and Observer announced that the hiring of Mary Easley to her lofty job at that university went to the very highest levels of government, meaning straight to her husband, then-Governor Mike Easley's office.

This entire episode has been a black eye upon an otherwise fine research university.  In recent years, the University of North Carolina system has been plagued with scandal. Please search the Carolina Journal archives for details.  

Our tax dollars went "down the drain" while our state is otherwise struggling to pay its bills, and while legislators and our current Governor, Beverly Perdue, is threatening to raise taxes at the worst possible time.

God bless North Carolina!  God bless our the Ole' North State!
