Updated: Legislative Alert - Urgent Action Required Tuesday

Monday, May 4, 2009 10:56 p.m. Update: Please call your Senators before the Senate convenes on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.  

The School Violence Prevention Act SB 526 was pulled from the calendar today and rescheduled for Tuesday. We assume that SB 221 is still on the calendar for Tuesday, as well.

Monday, May 4, 2009 12:01 p.m. This just in from the North Carolina Federation of Republican Women:

  
These Bills have been calendared to be heard on the Senate floor on TONIGHT (Monday May 4), starting at 7:00 p.m. 
 
Please call your Senators and ask that they oppose this Legislation.  Click here for that information or call the switchboard at 919-733-4111 and ask for your Senator.

HB 88 - The so-called Healthy Youth Act (The Sex-Ed Bill) As amended by the House would require 104 school districts (of the 115 total in NC) that only teach Abstinence from Sex Until Marriage (AUM) to add a condom-based Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE) track to their sex education curriculum. 

SB 526 - The so-called School Violence Prevention Act (The Bullying Bill) As amended, the bill would force North Carolina's public schools to promote homosexuality and other "alternative" sexual behaviors as normal 
and acceptable.
