On Monday, Governor Beverly Perdue (D) announced that a chunk of NC's bit of the spendulus money will go to the largest pork project of all time, the North Carolina Global Transpork, errr Transpark.
The Transpark, was "awarded" to Kinston, in eastern NC, as a part of a "build it and they will come" campaign that occured in the early 1990s. Laurinburg "lost out" to Kinston and should thank their lucky stars.
They built it, but no one ever came despite all the monies that have been tossed at the project. The tenants are mostly government agencies.
But, now, apparently, the Governor (left) sees the need to pour in even more money into that wasteland of a pork project. We all know that the last three NC Governors have come from the Eastern part of our state, leaving those of you in Western North Carolina (WNC), "forgotten".
Frankly, your blogger would consider "forgetfulness" a matter of pride. Maybe WNC can show our government officials how to get along without a bunch of tax monies and useless pork projects. You all have that pioneer spirit that this blogger has always respected.
