It appears that Chad Adams is in. This past weekend, the North Carolina Federation of Republican Women held their annual Winter Board meeting in Research Triangle Park.
At the Saturday luncheon, candidates for the race were asked to stand. Though he has not officially declared, Chad Adams stood and received many hoots, and a long ovation from the crowd. Seems he's quite popular with the group of GOP ladies. Adams is a former Lee County commissioner and is well- known statewide for his grass roots efforts on behalf of conservative causes.
Though Adams was the only candidate in the room, former state legislator and county chairman, Woody White of New Hanover county, has officially announced his intentions to run. He was represented at the event by staffer Al Lytton, former Congressman and NCGOP chairman Bill Cobey, and others.
Though White does not have the name recognition that Adams has, but he appears to have the funding available to be changing this. More on the race as it develops.
