We all know that MTV's "Rock-the-Vote" campaigns have been mere fronts for liberal candidates running for office. The idea was to get a bunch of coked-out rock "stars" to urge the youngest eligibles to register to vote and then ensure that they voted for the MTV-approved (liberal) candidates. Most people get more conservative as they age, so they wanted this audience at their most vulnerable and liberal.
We all know the bowels in which MTV has sunk today. Back in 1981 when your blogger was a young teen and the channel was just starting out, they simply played music videos 24/7. KCC's mom didn't approve of many of the videos, even then. But, MTV was honest and sincere and, best of all, fresh and new.
Fast forward many years and now there are all sorts of MTV "Rock-The-Vote" Rip offs. Take the November 1st event that's planned at Graham Terrace, next door to Morehead Planetarium, located on the Campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
According to Under the Dome, a section of the Raleigh News and Observer, they have planned a big, November 1st, concert featuring many of your blogger's favorite local acts. Dome failed to report the major problem -- Morehead Planetarium is an early voting site.
Sure, the doors to the voting booths will be closed during concert hours (9 p.m. to 1 a.m.), but the suggestive fact remains. Come hear a free, concert and come back and vote here tomorrow.
UNC-CH is liberal enough as it is. The late Senator Jesse Helms once suggested putting a fence around the town of Chapel Hill and calling the place a zoo.
The North Carolina Board of Elections should be monitoring activities such as these. But this sad fact remains. They are understaffed and over worked, as they are having to deal with ACORN and the worry of fake voter registrations.
