WASHINGTON, DC At a "Ronald Reagan Tribute Dinner" Friday evening, noted conservative author and popular campus speaker, Dinesh D'Souza, warned his audience that the strides made during the Reagan era, are quickly being undone by the liberals now in charge of our nation.
Before a crowd of 1,800 in the ballroom of the Crystal City Gateway Marriott, D'Souza stated, "there are two parties in America, the stupid party and the evil party." He then claimed to be a "proud member of the 'stupid party'", the Republicans.
Considering the bailout that just passed Congress and was signed by President Bush, he noted that "the stupid party sometimes does both evil AND stupid things." He added that in Washington, "they call this bi-partisanship".
Further, D'Sousa said the Obama and his fellow commie libs, "wish to undo the Reagan legacy and everything the conservatives have accomplished, especially since our hero was President."
Your blogger agrees and feels that this election year should be a wake up call to the sleeping conservative back home in North Carolina. For example, in last year's municipal elections, statewide, only 6 percent of people identifying themselves as conservative, actually showed up to vote. Many of them included Republican party activists known personally to your blogger. (Your vote is a secret ballot, but the fact that you did or didn't vote is public record.)
D'Souza went on to say that that he hates hearing conservatives and libertarians say that they feel that history will vindicate their political philosophies. He warned that may not be the case.
"It is critically important to win elections, because your opponents can undo everything you accomplished. Then, history won't even remember you."
He concluded that, now is the time for all good conservatives to get serious and get to work winning this vital election in 2008 and beyond."
