North Carolina's own AFP sponsor, Art Pope, gave an excellent introduction to noted conservative author, Dinesh D'Souza, Friday evening.
Thanks, Art for all you do for North Carolina and the North Carolina Chapter of Americans for Prosperity.
Art served in the North Carolina General Assembly and has been a major benefactor for a number of conservative causes, including the NC Institute for Constitutional Law, the John Locke Foundation, the J.W. Pope Civitas Institute, and the John William Pope Center for Higher Education Policy.
He's a proud alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go 'Heels) and works hard to see that the conservative message is included in that liberal bastion of higher learning.
Your blogger is a proud alumna of the Locke Foundation, having once worked indirectly for him. For the record, Art Pope does NOT contribute to this blog, nor has he been asked, though your blogger is a great admirer of his tireless dedication to conservative causes.
KCC first met Pope as a Meredith College student in the late 1980s, when she was on the staff of the Jim Gardner for Lt. Governor campaign. Her finance director boss sent her to pick up a check from Variety Wholesalers, the Pope family business. When she saw the amount, she quickly learned that the Pope family was a force in North Carolina politics.
Without Art Pope, North Carolina would be a lesser place. Liberal causes have so many benefactors, but the conservative side has so few. Katy's Conservative Corner thanks Art, his late father, and their family, for stepping up to the plate and doing the right thing for the Ole North State.
