North Carolina Secretary of Cultural Resources, Libba Evans (left), seemingly has a conflict of interest. According to Don Carrington of the John Locke Foundation:
Evans has been the head of the Cultural Resources department since 2001, when Gov. Mike Easley appointed her to the position. In addition to her state government duties, she remains involved in multiple real estate businesses.
One such real estate deal may prove to be a situation where she used her high position with the state to acquire a home in a sweetheart deal.
