Beverly Perdue is baffling even her supporters these days. She opposes drilling. Says that is bad for the planet. Sticks finger in the air, hears the public outcry and changes her mind. Gees, what is going on.
For the answer, we turn to our friends at the Warren County NC GOP. There aren't many Conservatives in Warren County, so the GOP County Chairman has a lot of fun with his website.
Thanks to the Warren County GOP for allowing us to "borrow" your Beverly Perdon't quotes. They gathered them from the various news sites while your blogger was down for the count with back surgery. Visit their site for many other funny, but true oddities about the Democrats that we love to hate.
Meanwhile, these are from the confused one, herself:
"I am 100 percent opposed. "Offshore drilling would take years to provide any benefit, while just one hurricane or Exxon Valdez incident could destroy North Carolina's coastline forever...."
- Beverly Perdue, WRAL.com, 6/18/08
"On my watch, we'll never solve the gas problem by drilling off the coast of North Carolina,
- Beverly Perdue, Charlotte Observer, 7/19/08
“The people who know best are telling me, that with the 68 million acres the federal government already has leased…I’d rather take those 68 million acres that are already leased and let’s just go drill there starting tomorrow.”
- Beverly Perdue, WTKF 107.1 FM, 7/28/08
“Well I’m not against offshore drilling per se…

EDITOR'S NOTE:
Your blogger is a native New Bernian who has known Beverly Perdue and her family since she was a child. She had her son in your blogger's YMCA summer camp back in the mid 80s and still thinks very highly of Perdue's niece, who is your blogger's age.
After moving here to attend Meredith College, your blogger has lived in Raleigh for 25 years. She also owns a home on Bogue Banks on the Crystal Coast and visits there and New Bern frequently.
Amazingly, she's run into only Perdue detractors, except for your blogger's mother who worked with the Lt. Governor when she was a volunteer with the Craven County American Cancer Society, This was long before her political career began. To her credit, Perdue was an excellent volunteer.
However, as seen above, the current Lt. Gov. cannot stick to her guns, even when they are pointed straight at her. She must certainly know that Pat McCrory and others will be gunning for her on this issue.
We shall all enjoy Tuesday night's debate as seen in the Triangle area on WTVD. Don't miss it!
For More Information on the Perdue flip flop, check out this press release from the Pat McCrory website.
