Sad News for A Great NC Conservative!

Former state Representative, Sam Ellis (R-Wake County) reportedly lost his 21-year-old son, Joe, in a tragic car accident, on Saturday night at roughly 3:00 a.m.

Ellis, for years a conservative stalwart, represented the 39th district,and  provided great leadership in times of trouble in North Carolina. He was a strong supporter of the Wake County Young Republicans, when your blogger was involved in that group. 

Sam Ellis has many friends, and Katy's Conservative Corner hopes readers will join us in offering up prayers for Sam, Joe, and their entire family.

At posting, funeral arrangements had not been completed.  Further details forthcoming.

NOTE TO RNC - Stay Out of Our Business! Updated and updated!

Linda Daves and the NC GOP have hit another one out of the park!  The North Carolina Republican Party has produced an ad (below) linking Barack Hussein Obama's extreme preacher to the Democrats running for NC Governor. 

Meanwhile, John McCain and the Republican National Committee (RNC) are calling for Daves and crew to cancel the ad. 

This blogger says  "forget it gang".  The RNC may be correct on some issues, but this is about North Carolina, and we don't play politically correct games down here. 

Both Beverly Perdue and Richard Moore have stuck their fingers in the wind and "endorsed" the America-hating Presidential candidate. 

Now, Linda Daves is making them pay.  Watch the ad and see for yourself. 

If you are a liberal and want to post comments complaining of the age-old claim of "racism", don't even bother.  Obama is multi-racial (as is your blogger's husband) and that old junk doesn't work anymore.  Martin Luther King, Jr lead us past this more than forty years ago.  You folks need to get past it too.  Shame on the RNC for kowtowing to these antiquated clowns! 

There is nothing wrong with Daves calling it as she sees it and she should not have to be defending these actions from her supposed allies.

The phone is ringing off the hook at NC GOP headquarters and the money is said to be rolling in, but it's not enough.  Our party needs more and they need YOUR contribution to get this ad off the Internet and ON THE AIR.  Contribute online, here.

The state party is apparently receiving threats, as the Raleigh Police Department has been guarding NC GOP headquarters all day.  The doors to the Hillsborough Street building are locked.  After the firebombing of the same structure by anarchists a few years back, they've learned to expect the unexpected.   

This is making national news and Katy's Conservative Corner has never been more proud to be a North Carolina Republican than today.

UPDATE: Katy's Conservative Corner has obtained an email written by NC Rep. David Lewis, the recently elected national committeeman to the RNC, who told his followers that the ad has been pulled.  Your blogger verified this as untrue:

I made a mistake this morning in responding to a concerned Republican.  In fact, I responded before I even saw the ad.  I had seen some news coverage of the ad on WRAL but hadn’t seen the whole thing.

I contacted Chris McClure at State Party Headquarters and misunderstood what he told me about the ad.  I did not, as I should have, check with Chairman Daves.

I tried too quickly to respond to an email without looking into all the facts.

Chairman Daves has made me aware that the Party will continue running the ad.

I am deeply sorry to have put out incorrect information.

The truth is I have been working on a fund raising event with Vice President Cheney and have not been actively involved with this particular media effort.

I want to do a good job in responding quickly to emails and phone calls and sometimes I am a little too quick.

This miscommunication is absolutely my fault and was not intentional.

I sincerely apologize to everyone who has been inconvenienced by my foul up and am going to try to put out a press release later today to clarify my mistake and that I was not authorized to speak for the Party.

Perdue's Syrupy Tone in WRAL Debate Sickens Viewers, Area Hospitals Report Emergency Rooms Filled With Nauseated NC Voters (satire)

Lt Governor's Beverly Perdue's hastily set-up debate with Treasurer Richard Moore, aired live on WRAL-TV in the Triangle area Tuesday evening. The would-be Democrat Governor's treacly tone, fake smile, and insincere call for a positive campaign, sent scores of viewers to area hospitals, most complaining of upset stomachs. 

Raleigh Community Hospital, Rex Hospital, and Wake Medical Center all reported over flow emergency rooms, which Duke and UNC hospitals had to turn away patients. 

Luckily, there is a cure for this type of nausea.  Vote for the GOP nominee in November to ensure that Perdue never darkens the door of  the Governor's mansion, except on tourist days.

Obama Campaigns With New Media

 

Barack Hussein Obama may have all the wrong political ideas, but he is campaigning using some of the most up-to-date methods of any candidate. 

Each day, your blogger receives 4 subscription text messages on her Palm 755 smartphone (part cell phone/part handheld computer).  Two are for weather (1 in her hometown, and another for the beach), and two are for news. 

The news text messages often contain a one-line link to an advertisement.  In recent days, KCC has been receiving small ads within these news messages from Barack Hussein Obama.  For example (left), today's messages read:

*Easy 2 REGISTER & VOTE! Txt Obama to (five-digit number).

*Join Team Obama! Text BARAK to (five-digit number).

Hagan Touts Endorsements - Will Run to the Middle and Vote to Far Left if Elected to US Senate

According to the Kay Hagan campaign, the candidate for the Democrat nomination for US Senate has won two key endorsements.  Both the Charlotte Observer and Winston-Salem Journal have endorsed her in recent days.  They are also touting her recent straw poll win at the Forsyth County Democrat Convention. 

While Hagan is the favorite of the "establishment" Democrats, her rival, Chapel Hill liberal Jim Neal, has been scooping up endorsements from the far left.  Neal touts such publications as Greensboro’s Yes! Weekly, and groups like Guilford County Chapter of the Progressive Democrats.  Additionally, he is the beloved candidate of far left website, BlueNC.

According to Neal's website, Yes! praised the Neal campaign’s openness and energetic outreach. “Jim Neal of Chapel Hill has been barnstorming the state … cultivating his netroots alongside his grassroots, blogging regularly as he crosses the state in his Escape Hybrid… We want a senator we can communicate with, and so far Hagan has not shown that she’s ready to do that.”

Hagan is expected to win the nomination on May 6th and will attempt to paint Elizabeth Dole as an out-of-touch senator who is to the right of unpopular President George W. Bush.    However, that will be far from the case.  While Dole is a key ally of Bush, she has also opposed him on key issues.   

Expect the NC Democrat truth-busting machine to be in full-effect this Fall!  Kay Hagan will try to appear to North Carolina moderates as their savior, but if elected, she would vote to the left of Nancy Pelosi. 

Conservatives have much at stake in this race.  While Dole might not be the conservative stalwart as was former Senator Jesse Helms, North Carolina must not elect a liberal Democrat to her seat.  We cannot afford the Democrat Party and we certainly can't afford Kay Hagan!

Myrick Takes Aim At Terrorism with 10-Point Plan

Rep. Sue Myrick wants America to "wake up" and stop allowing terrorism to proliferate -- and if that means revoking the passport of a former U.S. President or examining the preaching of prison chaplains, that's what she's prepared to do."

Your blogger is a huge fan of Mrs. Myrick and appreciates that she "gets it" in the war on terrorism.  Myrick is putting herself at personal risk to take such stances, and the left often portrays her as being out-of-touch or paranoid. 

Frankly, we need more like Mrs. Myrick in the halls of Congress and her stance is an "American issue" and not a partisan one. Your blogger wishes that members of Congress like Brad Miller, and David Price would have the courage to stand with her, as many Democrats have done.

NRA Endorses Smith, Pittenger, and Tyson

The National Rifle Association's Political Victory fund (NRA-PLF) has endorsed three statewide candidates running in the May 6th primaries.

Fred Smith, candidate for governor (left), Robert Pittenger, candidate for Lt. Governor, and Judge John Tyson, running for re-election to the North Carolina Court of Appeals, all received A grades. 

Congratulations to all these gentlemen.  Your blogger is a fellow NRA member, grew up in a pro-gun household and understands the responsibility of gun ownership and the importance of gun safety.

The fine print:

An A grade means that the candidate is solidly pro-gun . An “A” incumbent who has supported NRA positions on key votes.

The NRA-PVF also states that an A grade may also describe a non-incumbent “A” candidate who has previously held other office and cast consistent pro-gun votes, or an “A” candidate who hasn’t held office but has expressed strong support for NRA positions on Second Amendment issues. It should be noted that a “non-incumbent” candidate may have been awarded the “A” rating due solely to their responses on the NRA-PVF candidate survey.

Eric Smith on Parental Choice in Education

Katy's Conservative Corner has previously endorsed Eric Smith for the Republican nomination for Supt of Public Instruction. 

He's the best of the three running on the GOP ticket, and he had this to say at the Wake County Republican Convention, in March:

In the early 1980s, your blogger enjoyed a song by the hip hop group, Whodini, called "The Freaks Come Out at Night" (below), and indeed it seems to be the case with North Carolina's homosexual community. 

Our friends over at Pam's House Blend, and the far-lefters at BlueNC, are campaigning for Chapel Hill liberal, and out-of-the-closet homo, Jim Neal, for US Senate.  (These same folks often post her that they are praying for KCC, and how "homophobic" we are.  We thankfully accept your prayers, but not nasty posts.)

Neal, a financial guru, is facing Greensboro leftist Kay Hagan.  Last year, Hagan decided not to challenge for the Democrat nomination, saying she enjoyed her seat in the North Carolina legislature and wished to spend more time with her family.

Greensboro -- Your blogger and her husband, Rob, immensely enjoyed this weekend's Conservative Leadership Conference sponsored and run by the John W. Pope Civitas Institute.  Speakers were top-notch and the event was an excellent chance to catch up with like-minded friends from across North Carolina. 

We will report more specifically on the events on Monday but if you missed it, you missed insightful commentary and a chance to hear some of the brightest conservative minds in the nation.  This was the third annual event and your blogger has this on her must-attend-list each year!  So should you! 

When we think of politics, it's hard not to hear rumors.  For example, many sources have indicated that NC Gubanatorial candidate, Bill Graham, may be running in name only.

Rep. Myrick: Revoke Jimmy Carter's Passport

North Carolina's number one member of Congress, Sue Myrick (R-9th District) is calling for the revocation Jimmy Carter's passport.  She told Fox News, below, that Carter is legitimizing the hate group, Hamas, by meeting with them. 

"Why should (taxpayers) support the Carter Center when he does not support our government?" she asked.

What is Carter thinking?  Hamas won't recognize Israel.  They won't renounce terrorism.  Come on!   Terrrorism is one of the most serious threats to our national security.

Bravo, Rep. Myrick.  We need more of you.

Emerald Isle - With fewer farmers growing corn for food, and growing more for fuel, the price of basic items is going up.  Prices on staples, such as flour, are headed upwards, as many farmers try to cash in on the new Ethanol wave.  However, average folks are seeing fewer benefits.

Pentagon tells McHenry Not to Re-air Green Zone Video

While Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-10th) was in Baghdad, he allegedly committed two serious security breaches.  The first was attempting to defy a security officer's demand that he not access a green zone gym. (See previous article.)

The second occured when he took video of enemy rocket attacks.  This action was deemed an operational security breech as McHenry named certain buildings in the video.

McHenry Belittles Brave Security in Baghdad, Should Apologize (Video)

Rep. Patrick McHenry may have just had his “macaca moment.”

On a photo opportunity trip to Baghdad, North Carolina’s 10th district congressman, a Republican from Cherryville, was denied access to a Green Zone gym by a security guard.

The self-absorbed politician was incensed that a guard in a war zone failed to recognize him as an important congressman even if he did not have the appropriate identification.

So, when McHenry got home, he told a gathering at a recent Lincoln County Republican dinner how he’d been stopped by a “two-bit security guard.”

Auditor Merritt: Lottery Performance Management Practices Need Improvement

As most lottery foes predicted, the North Carolina "Education Lottery" is not performing up to the expectations predicted by lottery proponents.

As conservatives projected, our state's poorest residents are playing, wasting their valuable income because they are often uneducated and unaware about basic economics.

Meanwhile, North Carolina's State Auditor, Les Merrit, has uncovered a system of management practices that must be improved. 

After a request by the North Carolina Legislative Black Caucus, the auditor uncovered significant performance management weaknesses by finding that the Lottery has no documented revenue forecasting methodology, no strategic plan, no ongoing market research, and no full-cost accounting of promotional events.

April 19th is an important milestone in our campaign for re-election to the State House. 

First, a little history.  I am currently serving my 8th year in the State House (but not continuously).  I served in 1989-90 in my youth.  I returned to the House in 2003 to find a radically changed General Assembly.  Autocracy and intimidation were in vogue.  Democracy wasn’t.  Unfortunately the House also included some criminal elements: former Speaker Jim Black, Rep. Michael Decker, and Rep. Thomas Wright.  They are all now in prison.

KCC Endorses Eric Smith, as he announces Video Town Hall

Despite any previous reservations your blogger may have had regarding the candidacy of Eric Smith for Superintendent of Public Instruction, she feels that his platform is right out of a "conservative playbook" and  is exactly what the doctor ordered for North Carolina's schools.  Thus, Katy's Conservative Corner endorses him for this important office.

Why the about face?  Smith has won our endorsement, in part, because he is the strongest candidate to hold off RINO Richard Morgan. 

The classless Morgan left our state in a true lurch when he sold his soul to the liberal Democrats when he created a power-sharing deal with the now jailed Democrat, Jim Black. 

For some reason, Morgan believes he can come back from his political death bed and win this office.  Though this blogger has to hold her nose when going to the polls to vote for a (former?) Libertarian, we still think Eric Smith is the best man for the job.
