Former state Supreme Court Justice Bob Orr, right, leads the Republican race for governor, according to a September 19 poll.
The poll, taken by the Civitas Institute and released on September 19, shows Orr leading his opponents at 12 percent. State Senator Fred Smith and Salisbury Businessman Bill Graham, follow closely with 11 percent each.
More important, is the number of undecided voters, which stands at a whopping 66 percent. All three men have much work to do building their name ID by primary time in May.
On the Democrat side, the Civitas Poll showed Lt. Governor Beverly Perdue leading State Treasurer Richard Moore by 29 percent - 21 percent with 50 percent undecided.
Since that poll was released, Perdue has officially kicked off her campaign, launched her website, and is in full campaign mode. We'll see how her numbers stack up against Moore, next time poll.
Meanwhile, Republican voters are in for an entertaining Democrat primary battle. Moore and Purdue have been hurling accusations and insults like kindergartners throwing rotten tomatoes. From a GOP point-of-view, it's a pretty fun primary to watch.
However, whichever dog emerges from that fight will be battle hardened and will be ready to take on any of the three Republicans. Stay tuned.

Beverly Perdue (This url was quite difficult to locate. It wasn't listed in Google and other search engines. I actually had to dig in the bowels of BlueNC, a liberal blog, to locate it. Now, I'm wondering if she wants to be coy, or if her staffers simply don't know the basics of search engine listing and operation!)
