Former state representative David Almond (R-Stanly) allegedly exposed himself and attempted to perform other illegal acts in front of his legislative assistant, sources say. Almond was encouraged by fellow Republicans to resign his seat in the NC General Assembly this week. Charges may be filed, sources tell us.
Though no one was available to comment on-the-record, Katy's Conservative Corner commends the Republican leadership, including House Minority Leader Paul Stam (R-Wake) for doing an excellent job of policing their own. The alleged act cannot be further described here, due its graphic nature. However, we thank the GOP leadership for running a clean operation and for not attempting to cover up or hide darkness, as do the NC Democrats.
Unfortunately, the allegations against former Rep. Almond hit the news just one day after former Speaker Jim Black (D-Mecklenburg) was sentenced to five years prison. That news briefly took the heat off the Democrat leadership. Jim "Gray Bar" Black is due to be sentenced soon.
It's a sad day for Republicans to see one of our own fall into darkness, but we acknowledge that this can happen to one of any political stripe. Katy's Conservative Corner hopes that former Rep. Almond gets the help he needs and punishment he deserves.
