Just like any movement, when it's successful, there will be detractors. In this case, they love to call the Tea Party people the word Tea Bag***. We won't print it because it's a disgusting sexual reference that does not belong here.
To learn what the opposition is up to, check out click on Crash the Tea Party. They say they are a network of Democrats, Republicans and Independents who are tired of Racists, "Homophobes", and Morons, yet they make really disgusting comments about homosexuals in posts regarding Barney Frank It leads this blogger to believe the actual "morons" are those running that site.
Please note: Some of the content is not very nice and can be offensive to conservative gay people and non-sophomoric others.
Your blogger saw these people in action, personally, at her last Tea Party in Washington, when trying to salvage the Health Care Bill.
These "bad guys" try to catch people at tea parties doing something wrong, such as spitting, yelling racist names, etc. They come armed with video cameras.
Therefore, at the next Tea Party this Thursday, this blogger, will come armed with hers.
Your blogger's four-year-old son is looking forward to his first rally this year, and asks his mommy each day, if "today is the day". Let's just hope the crowds will keep the ugly words to a minimum for the young ones in attendance. We are doing this for them.
Today, your blogger has added a new category to her list: Tea Parties.

Thursday, April 15th is the dreaded tax day. If you cannot make it to Washington for the big Tax Day Tea Party and rally, check out one of many such rallies across the Ole' North State.
The NC chapter of Americans for Prosperity has set up the website: NC Tax Day Tea Party It has a listing of every Tea Party in North Carolina, and they urge you to make it out to one.
Your blogger will be attending the rally at the North Carolina State Capitol since she cannot be in our nation's Capitol.
If your Tax Day Tea Party isn't listed on the site, please contact the AFP to add yours.
Please note that the liberals are just waiting for our side to slip up and do something that they can make news with. For example, they want us to use ugly language, spit on people, or some other dastardly deed, but as conservatives, we will not fall for their traps.
Like in Washington a few weeks back, they will try to infiltrate our rallies by "blending in". However, to this blogger, they will stick out like sore thumbs. They'll be the ones with the video cameras, and without American flags and signs, and their clothes will be bland, rather than red, white, and blue. Watch for them and tread lightly. Be polite yet ignore them. That will frustrate them as they want us to get mad so they can get a "good video" for You Tube.
Have fun and let this blogger know what those liberals try to pull. It's our protest day of the taxes THEY have put on us.
Congressman Mike Pence (R-IN) said on MSNBC Wednesday morning, that the newly passed Obamacare bill will raise taxes so much that people will lose jobs. Additionally, he stated that this will not stand and that the fight is not over!
"We have to stop this continuous growth of government", he continued. "We don't need to answer this with more government and more debt...this is about freedom and the American people will push back hard".

Liz Cheney, the brilliant daughter of former Vice-President Dick Cheney and Co-Founder of Keep America Safe, was introduced by ACU & CPAC Chairman David Keene. Unfortunately, I had to leave her midday Thursday speech prematurely.
I did get to hear her lambaste President BarackObama, though. Liz said that "experts" had predicted the death of the conservative movement after the brutal 2008 elections. They were wrong. Scott Brown's win in Massachusetts shocked and frightened Obama and the Democrats, who had misjudged America's tolerance for socialist politics.
Liz decried how Obama did not govern from the center, as many people naively thought he would. Instead he raises taxes to pay for nationalized healthcare. He does not believe in American exceptionalism. Instead he traveled the world to apologize for America's perceived "transgressions." He even incredibly wants to give foreign terrorists the same constitutional rights as US citizens.
Later, Liz surprised the audience by introducing her father. Vice-President Dick Cheney, who I wish had been our former *President*, spoke briefly to a delighted audience. The senior Cheney earned a standing ovation by predicting 2010 would be a great year for Conservatives, and that Obama would be a one-term President. He even received such an ovation just for entering the room.

The 80s song by the alternative group "The Smiths" comes to mind today, when thinking of the money President Barack Obama poured down the proverbial drain he signed the so-called Stimulus bill, which has mortgaged the future of our children and grandchildren. KCC's young son doesn't know it, but he'll spend his life working to pay it off.
Young Bobby is already angry at Obama for cutting NASA and the American space program. As his mommy and daddy have explained, the Chinese will now beat us back to the moon. Bobby dreams of being an astronaut and KCC hopes it is not already too late for him. In fact, he's ready to head for Pluto tomorrow, when called upon.
Meanwhile, Congressman Mike Pence (R-Indiana, right), chairman of the U.S. House Republican Conference, told Congress his own opinions about the Spendulus bill, on the eve of the CPAC 2010 conference:
"One year later, one thing is clear: the stimulus bill has failed. One year later, not one net job has been created as unemployment rose from 7.6 percent to nearly 10 percent nationwide. Mr. President, millions of Americans are asking, 'where are the jobs?'
"It is time for Washington to take a new approach to get this economy moving again based on time-honored solutions: fiscal discipline in Washington, D.C. and immediate tax relief for working families, small businesses and family farms. Let's put American families first, set aside the big government schemes on health care and energy and take decisive action to get this economy growing again."
Repeating a situation that plagued the state’s taxpayers last year, officials with the North Carolina Department of Revenue have already announced that individuals filing their taxes can expect delays in receiving their refunds.
“Revenue Secretary Kenneth Lay told The Associated Press on Friday his agency is delaying refund checks for individuals and businesses. It's all part of the state's effort to manage cash while its tax collections remain anemic.” (“State says expect delays on tax refunds,” WRAL.com, 2/12/10)
Officials at the N.C. Department of Revenue have long known about slow tax collections and the effect on state fund balances. Yet, Governor (Beverly) Perdue and Secretary Lay have not taken effective steps so that taxpayers do not face unreasonable delays in receiving tax refunds from state government. Many of the taxpayers owed refunds are small businesses struggling to meet payrolls, and the delay in paying refunds may actually cause additional job losses in the private sector.
Senate Republican LeaderPhil Berger(R-Rockingham, above left) made the following statement:
“A second consecutive year of taxpayers facing unreasonable delays in receiving their refunds demonstrates two things about the Perdue Administration. The first is a continuation of the incompetence and mismanagement all too evident in the Easley administration. For too long, Democrats, in complete control of the legislature and the Governor’s office, have not been held accountable for their lack of competence in managing the state’s fiscal affairs.
“The second is a mindset that plagues Democrats in Raleigh and in Washington - that money collected, or over-collected, as tax revenue belongs to the government and not the taxpayer. But this is the taxpayers’ money, particularly that money to be refunded, and the only reason the government has it now is because they collected more than they should have. The money should be returned to taxpayers promptly.”
In a surprising twist to an already crowded North Carolina's 4th Congressional District primary, 2008 GOP nominee, B.J. Lawson, has committed to entering the field.
In a statement released on Tuesday, he wrote:
"Recent polling data suggests 2010 will be much different than 2008. Specifically, 72% of North Carolina Republicans say they are "definitely voting" in 2010, while only 67% of Democrats say the same; furthermore, our district's turnout was greatly influenced by the Obama campaign. Our commitment to challenge Price has been further fueled by recent upsets across the country, numerous requests from our grassroots volunteers, and the stubborn refusal of our government to do the right thing even when confronted with overwhelming public opposition."
Your blogger agrees completely. Additionally, Lawson (left) stated that his campaign is focused on five issues:
Economic freedom to create our own jobs and businesses
Health care freedom that returns medicine to patients and providers
Zero tolerance for bailouts and corporate welfare
A federal government that operates within the Constitution
Honest and transparent government
The official announcement and filing will come in Raleigh on Wednesday.
KCC feels that this shakes up the field a bit. Lawson, is well-known throughout the 4th district as he won a bruising primary in 2008 and went on to face Price in the general election. Though Congressman David Pricewon re-election easily in the gerrymandered district drawn just for him, conventional wisdom tells us that every member of Congress is vulnerable in 2010. Anti-Obama backlash is high this year, as the President's missteps are following him where ever he goes.
Lawson should now easily move into second place, behind front-runner Frank Roche and ahead of other challengers Greg Dority and the little known, non-serious George Hutchins.
Roche has been in the race for more than a year but with Lawson's national fund-raising connections from the Republican Liberty Caucus, he should easily be able to out-raise everyone in the field, eventually moving ahead of Roche.
Many 4th District and NC GOP activists only became involved after the election of President Barrack Obama angered and fired them up. Most of these might not remember Lawson and but they do know Roche. Lawson, must now reach out to these new believers and share his story.
Price can always be counted on to vote the wrong way on any issue for a fiscal conservative. In a year when the issues are tilted towards fiscal and financial, Price has never met a tax increase he didn't like. But, he knows how to put a good spin on the issue.
History from Your Blogger's Memory
Price was first elected to Congress in 1986, defeating then- Congressman and former UNC Athletic Director Bill Cobey. Cobey went on to become NCGOP State Chairman and a candidate for Governor. Cobey had defeated long-serving Democrat Congressman Ike Andrews in 1984, after Andrews received a DUI. (Your blogger volunteered for Cobey as a College Republican at the time.)
In 1994, in an off-year election during former President Bill Clinton's first term, former Raleigh Police Chief Fred Heineman surprisingly defeated Price. (The district then covered most, if not all of Raleigh, and was more Republican friendly.)
The Heineman campaign had already scheduled to turn off all but one telephone line, beginning the day after the election, and reporters, volunteers, and well-wishers could not get through. The Chief, as he insisted on being called, was as shocked as anyone. Sadly, Price returned to Congress two years later and has kept his seat since.
However, anti-Obama sentiments are much stronger than any anti-Clinton feelings ever were. If the GOP keeps working hard and rallies the faithful, Congress is ours for the taking. However, KCC feels we must have no more "restroom incidents" or mistresses in Argentina!
Congressman Price is a fixture on the local Chamber of Commerce circuit. During this blogger's tenure at the Cary Chamber of Commerce, she wrote their newsletter as part of her position as Director of Public and Governmental Affairs.
Anytime KCC said anything negative about Rep. Price, his office was on the phone, wanting to schedule a speaking engagement, which he, naturally received.
Price is always accessible but we have no doubt that the Republican who defeats him will be, as well!
On Monday, President Barack Obama released his fiscal year 2011 budget.
The President’s budget more than doubles the debt, drives spending to a new record of $3.8 trillion in FY 2011, pushes the deficit to a new record of $1.6 trillion in FY 2010, and raises taxes by over $2 trillion through 2020, by the Administration’s own estimates. If this weren't the taxpayers' money, this would be laughable.
Congressman Jeb Henlarsing (R-Texas, left) decided, as did Peter Finch in the 1976 movie "Network", that he's mad as hell and can't take it anymore! (Figuratively, of course).
When Obama first took office, he told the American taxpayers that we needed to pass the "porkulus" bill or unemployment would grow past 8%. He also assured Americans that if Congress passed the bill, unemployment would stay below 8%.
Naturally, Obama's Democrat Congress passed the bill and and unemployment is over 10% yet he claims he averted a worse catastrophe.
KCC feels sure that our own NC Members of Congress will be weighing in on the budget soon, and we look forward to hearing from them.
Meanwhile, here is the text to Congressman Henlarsing's press release:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 1, 2010
President Obama Finally Answers Hensarling’s Budget Question:
“Mr. President, will that new budget, like your old budget, triple the national debt and continue to take us down the path of increasing the cost of government to almost 25% of our economy?”
Upon the release today of his record breaking $3.8 trillion fiscal year 2011 budget, President Barack Obama finally answered the question posed to him by Congressman Jeb Hensarling, a question the President declined to answer during the Friday, January 29 House Republican retreat: “Mr. President, will that new budget, like your old budget, triple the national debt and continue to take us down the path of increasing the cost of government to almost 25 percent of our economy?” To view budget documents go to http://www.house.gov/budget_republicans/
Hensarling said, “Although it came 72 hours after I posed this very important question to the President, the American taxpayers and I finally have an answer to the simple question I asked him on Friday. The answer is YES. The president released a 10-year budget today that will triple the national debt, and keep government spending on a path that equals as much as 25% of the entire U.S. economy. This budget sends a clear signal to American taxpayers who are tired of the spending, deficits and bailouts – and who recognize that they are not working – that the President is taking the policies they have rejected to a new high. This is clear evidence that the President is ignoring the will of the American taxpayers who want Washington to go on a diet.” (photo above, left)
“As is often the case, particularly in budget matters, I find myself agreeing with 80% of what the President says and disagreeing with 80% of what he does. While the President’s budget rhetoric gives a nod to reducing the deficit, and his budget document recognizes the unsustainable trajectory of the deficits, it assumes this problem will be solved by an as yet unknown “fiscal commission,” (page 146 summary tables) a proposal already defeated by Senate Democrats.”
“Likewise, his purported spending freeze is not really a freeze because it exempts 83% of the federal budget from the freezer, does not turn on the freezer until next year and then turns off the freezer shortly thereafter. In the same document that President Obama tells the nation he’s committed to fiscal responsibility, he unveils trillions in NEW taxes and entitlements. This makes it very hard to take President Obama’s newfound commitment to fiscal responsibility seriously.”
“Unfortunately, instead of signaling a change in the weather I’m afraid the President’s budget signals that the looming storm clouds of Obamanomics are here to stay. For the duration of the Administration’s 10-year budget, the deficit never falls below $700 billion, and never falls below 3.6 percent of GDP – a level the Administration’s own budget director has called ‘unsustainable.’ Debt held by the public triples over 10 years, and exceeds 60 percent of GDP as a share of the economy this year – surpassing last year’s 50-year high. Debt continues to rise to consume 77.2 percent of our economy by the end of the budget window. Couple this budget with the threatened takeover of our health care system, a threatened energy tax and the threatened makeover of our financial system and it is little wonder that job growth is lagging and that private capital and entrepreneurs are sitting on the sidelines – who would take the risk to start or expand a business in this climate?”
“Democrats in Congress have had the Constitutional power of the purse for three years. In the 12 years that Republicans controlled the House, the average deficit was $104 billion. In just three years under Democratic control, the average deficit is now almost $1.1 trillion. I suspect that as the Democratic majority in Congress works its will on the President’s budget it will only get worse.”
“I have great respect for President Obama, and I appreciate his willingness to come to our retreat, but last Friday he missed an opportunity to show real leadership and join Republican efforts to reign-in the spending. Instead of being straight with the American people about his plans to take nearly one out of every four dollars they earn, he chose to change the subject. He could have told the American people he planned to continue on a path to tripling the national debt and increasing government spending to 25.1% of the economy and he could have explained why he thought that was good policy. He chose not to take that opportunity. Over the next few weeks the House Budget Committee will hold hearings on the budget, I look forward to a serious and honest debate about the trajectory of this administration’s spending and the damage it is doing to our national well-being.”
Thursday, before President Barry Obama lectured the Republican Caucus Friday, House GOP leaders held a press conference to discuss their positive solutions to the problems our nation is now facing. View it below.
Additionally, you may download the Solutions Handbook the House Republicans delivered to the President on Friday. Let's hope he takes advantage of the ideas and doesn't claim all of the credit this time.
It appears that our liberal friends are in campaign mode. Thursday, your blogger was made aware of an email circulating amongst "Change Crew" circles, asking their members, to call their Congressmen and Senators Burr and Hagan and tell them that they "stand with Obama". The group is known as Organizing for America.
This blogger prefers to consider them as organizing against America, or organizing to spend all my son's money before he turns five.
One friend of this blog, is asking the same. He's calling on conservatives to tell Senators that "we do not stand with Obama". Heck, we are the pros at making the phone calls. Naturally, Kay Hagan's phone is rarely answered and her voice mail is usually full. We guess that explains her under-30 percent approval rating.
The text of the liberals' message is below:
Hello Change Crew!
For those of you who wish to, see below. Takes just a couple minutes, regardless of your thoughts/views your voice needs to be heard.
Yes We Can!
-Signed name of Change Crew Leader (name withheld to protect the guilty)
We need your help this morning. Please call Senator Hagan's and Senator Burr's offices this morning and tell them that you watched last night's State of the Union speech and that you "stand with President Obama." Please call your Representative as well and provide the same message.
Here are the telephone numbers:
Senator Kay Hagan (202) 224.6342 or locally (919) 856.4630
Richard Burr (202) 224.3154 or locally (336) 631.6125
Representative David Price (District 4) (202) 225.1784 or locally (919) 859.5999
Representative Brad Miller ( District 13) (202) 225.3032 or locally (919) 836.1313 Thank you for all you do.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Liberals being disrespectful, note how they left off Senator Burr's title. This email was printed exactly as sent.
Katy's ConservativeCorner is posting an e-mail we received from the Eagle Forum, regarding the big vote on the Energy Tax. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has scheduled the Household Energy Tax Vote this Week! Please Take Action to defeat the so-called Global Warming bill!!!!
We thank the Eagle Forum for providing this important information to us:
Late Monday night, during yet another closed-door meeting in the House of Representatives, the liberal majority maneuvered to bring the highly unpopular 946-page energy-rationing bill, better known as the Waxman-Markey cap-and-tax bill, to the House floor for a vote by the end of this week!
Sponsored by Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) and Rep. Edward Markey (D-MA), the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, H.R. 2454 imposes a system of "cap-and-tax" in order to combat so-called "global warming." This massive, across-the-board household energy tax is being disguised by congressional liberals and is being sold under the slogan "cap-and-trade," which simply means giving the government power to put a cap on the amount of carbon emissions (CO2) produced by the production of electricity, gasoline, and heating oil, and forcing businesses to actively lobby Congress for higher cap levels and to buy permits for the emissions they are allowed.
Rather than calling it "cap-and-trade," it should be called "cap-and-tax"-as it caps Americans' standard of living and taxes our use of products whose manufacture emits CO2.
If passed and signed into law, H.R. 2454 will further cripple our economy and drain your pockets in the following ways:
1. It will raise your household electricity rates by 90 percent, gasoline by 74 percent, and residential natural gas prices by 55 percent by 2035, after adjusting for inflation.
2. It imposes an annual burden of $144.8 billion per year on U.S. households, and it will reduce household earnings by a projected $37.8 billion.
3. It will further cut U.S. employment levels by 965,000 jobs by reducing economic output by $136 billion per year-this translates to a $1,145 increase in energy costs per American household.
4. It will force low-income households to disproportionately bear the across-the-board energy cost increase, as a larger percentage of the poor's income goes toward energy costs, as opposed to wealthier households.
5. It sets the stage to effectively kill the coal industry as it will be taxed so heavily, it will not be able to sustain itself.
6. If enacted, H.R. 2454 would be the biggest government takeover of the economy since the Second World War, which is the last time energy, food, and other basic commodities were rationed. Waxman-Markey amounts to a $2 trillion tax increase on middle-class Americans. Not only would this be the biggest tax increase in the history of the world, but it is yet another example of President Barack Obama violating his campaign promise not to raise taxes on the middle class. This cap-and-tax bill is simply an underhanded way of facilitating a colossal transfer of wealth from consumers to big businesses.
7. Household energy taxation with the ultimate goal of energy-rationing is dangerous, not only for your pocketbook, but also for the well-being of your family and your standard of living.
8. H.R. 2454 is a hidden tax and it must be defeated this week in the House!
The Democrat Majority has announced that amendments to this bill can be made no later than 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 25th. We expect a floor vote to occur soon after that, so please begin calling your Representatives and tell them to vote NO on cap-and-tax!
Capitol Switchboard: 202-224-3121
Watch The Heritage Foundation's David Kreutzer discuss how Cap-and-Tax will raise your family's household energy costs!
Economists at the WSJ Say Waxman’s Energy Bill is Full of HOT AIR:
Despite House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman's many payoffs to Members, rural and Blue Dog Democrats remain wary of voting for a bill that will impose crushing costs on their home-district businesses and consumers. The leadership's solution to this problem is to simply claim the bill defies the laws of economics.
NC Senator Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) is not happy about Governor Beverly Perdue's Tax Increasing Budget. In fact, he stated on Wednesday:
“Governor Perdue’s call for a job-destroying $1.5 billion tax increase is irresponsible and could not come at a worse time.As North Carolina faces the most dire economic recession in decades including double digit unemployment rates, Governor Perdue refuses to abandon the tax and spend policies that have brought us to this point. The Democratic addiction to more spending and higher taxes is a surefire strategy for more job losses and delayed recovery.History shows increasing taxes during a recession has never produced an economic recovery.Republicans proposed a reasonable alternative of freezing spending at existing levels, a policy that will not require debilitating cuts to education or job-destroying tax increases.Politicians can only be effective if the people that elected them trust them to keep their word – Governor Perdue should think twice before breaking her campaign promise not to raise taxes.”
Your blogger received this note on Wednesday from Amazon.com Thank you, liberal General Assembly. Thank you very much. You put little wage earners like this blogger (and thousands of others in our state) out of business:
We regret to inform you that the North Carolina state legislature (the General Assembly) appears ready to enact an unconstitutional tax collection scheme that would leave Amazon.com little choice but to end its relationships with North Carolina-based Associates. You are receiving this e-mail because our records indicate that you are an Amazon Associate and resident of North Carolina.
Please note that this is not an immediate termination notice and you are still a valued participant in the Associates Program. All referral fees earned on qualified traffic will continue to be paid as planned.
But because the new law is drafted to go into effect once enacted – which could happen in the next two weeks – we will have to terminate the participation of all North Carolina residents in the Amazon Associates program on or before that same day. After the termination day, we will no longer pay any referral fees for customers referred to Amazon.com or Endless.com nor will we accept new applications for the Associates program from North Carolina residents.
The unfortunate consequences of this legislation on North Carolina residents like you were explained in detail to key senators and representatives in Raleigh, including the leadership of the Senate, House, and both chambers’ finance committees. Other states, including Maryland, Minnesota, and Tennessee, considered nearly identical schemes, but rejected these proposals largely because of the adverse impact on their states’ residents.
The website will allow activists to sign letters and emails to North Carolina legislators stating their principled opposition to the $1 billion in new taxes already proposed by Gov. (Beverly) Perdue and the North Carolina General Assembly.
“There are no tax increases that will not hurt our economic recovery. These will be job-killing tax increases,” said Americans for Prosperity State Director Dallas Woodhouse. “Our legislators need to know that citizens are taxed enough already and will not stand for a $1 billion tax increase.”
The website was created by Americans for Prosperity because of the attempts by both Gov. Perdue and the General Assembly to increase taxes on sales, income and everything from automotive repairs to downloading music.
Other activities under serious consideration for dramatically increased taxation include digital properties, warranties, alcohol, cigarettes, as well as tangible personal property services such as plumbing repairs.
Editor's Note: Your blogger has long been active with the Americans for Prosperity and she finds it one of North Carolina's most valuable groups regarding fiscal issues. Don't miss their fall national conference in Washington. Watch this space for details. Your blogger will be there.
Governor Beverly Perdue publicly stated Thursday that she is considering proposing additional tax increases on top of the cigarette and alcohol taxes included in her original budget proposal.
Longtime political reporter Rob Christensen, writing in Friday's edition of the Raleigh News and Observer, stated:
"Gov. Beverly Perdue said Thursday that a tax increase might be needed to prevent 'horrific' cuts in government services as state leaders try to close a projected $4.6 billion shortfall in North Carolina's budget.
Perdue didn't say what tax increases she might support. But she noted that her budget proposal made to the legislature earlier this year called for an increase in the excise taxes on cigarettes and alcohol. She said she would not rule out other tax increases."
"Governor Perdue has already broken her promise to refrain from raising taxes with her original budget proposal. Now she wants even more money from the pockets of North Carolina's working families. It is not the fault of North Carolina citizens that the state is facing a $4.6 billion budget shortfall. Years of mismanagement, oversight, and neglect have produced this crisis as Democrats in the General Assembly, including the Governor herself, have been derelict in their duty to protect North Carolinians from the predictable outcome of profligate spending. Good leadership should put state government in a position to survive not just in a robust economy but in lean times as well. Governor Perdue should start providing that leadership instead of scapegoating North Carolina taxpayers when they are most vulnerable."
Editor's Note: The N&O's Senior political reporter, Rob Christensen, has been covering the NC GOP for years. He's never been a favorite among Republican circles but he's got the vote of your blogger. After chatting with him at a University of Tennessee alumni "Football Watching Party" a number of years ago, KCC became a big fan.
Christensen knows North Carolina politics as well as anyone and can tell you what will happen before it does. In the State GOP chairman's race, your blogger's money is on Christensen.
They came in buses from all parts of our state. They came with their signs of protest and they signed petitions to Governor Beverly Perdue saying "Don't Raise Our Taxes". It was also billed as a Tea Party, designed to draw in the "Tea Party crowd", and come they did.
Featured speakers included "Joe the Plumber", Jonathan Krone (the 14 year-old conservative prodigy, left with your blogger), and Raleigh's own Fox News Commentator, Mary Katharine Ham. Your blogger circulated through the crowd, ate Eastern NC style bar-be-que, listened to the band, and overall, had a grand old time.
The Wake County Republican Party has printed "Don't Tread On Me" T-Shirts ahead of today's Tea Party happening from 4:30 to 7:30 on Halifax Governement Mall, in downtown Raleigh.
The Tea Party, sponsored by the NC Chapter of Americans for Prosperity, is a statewide protest against the billion dollar state tax increase. Fox News Star, and all around interesting person, Mary Katharine Ham, will be the featured speaker, along with "Joe the Plumber".

Editor's Note: Your blogger is an activist and board member with the Wake GOP Executive Committee and serves on the NC GOP Executive Committee. She'll see you today (Wednesday) at the Tea Party, proudly sporting her new T-Shirt, with her young son in tow. Please be sure to say hello!
Katy's Conservative Corner proudly Endorses Tom Fetzer for Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party.Below, your blogger, a self-described Republican since the age of 9, offers her personal perspective:
Your blogger first met Tom Fetzer (left) in 1985, while an 18-year-old freshman at Meredith College. He was a handsome young 34-year-old, brought in by our club chairman to help increase attendance at our College Republican meetings.
He told of his work with Senator Jesse Helms, the Congressional Club and how he had learned from Tom Ellis and Carter Wrenn. Ellis was the man who saved Ronald Reagan's Presidential campaign in 1976 and paved the way for his election in 1980.
He also told us of his work on the 1984 infamous campaign between Senator Helms and Governor Jim Hunt. Your blogger volunteered on that campaign as a senior at New Bern Senior High School that year. She loved the line "Where do you stand, Jim", which pointed out Governor Hunt's many inconsistencies.
In 1988, Fetzer ran for Congress in the elusive 4th District against David Price. He raised a record $800,000 in that race.
Tom's most remarkable achievement, in the opinion of this blogger, came in 1993. A large group of conservatives were angry with the Raleigh City Council over their spending $52,000 of OUR tax monies for an "art tower" (left) on Capital Blvd. The thing was ugly, at best, and no one understood what it was. Most thought it was a cell phone tower.
Tom Fetzer made this art tower the albatross to hang around the necks of the liberals on City Council. He lead the charge, and solidified the conservative vote (both Democrats and Republicans) in Raleigh, swept into office and brought a conservative City Council with him.
He served three terms, before handing the job off to another great conservative, Paul Coble, the nephew of Senator Helms. Those were heady days in Raleigh.
Tom Fetzer has served as a board member with the John Locke Foundation for a number of years. He believes in the principles of a smaller government, lower taxes, and opposes government corruption on every level. He is a true conservative as he supports socially conservative issues, too. He believes in traditional marriage, is pro-life, and backs gun rights.
Your blogger supports Fetzer for State Chairman because he is a PROVEN FUNDRAISER, and understands the GRASSROOTS. He has knocked on thousands of doors and has made many more phone calls. He understands organization at that most basic level. He believes in utilizing new technologies, (just as your blogger has been preaching, for two years).
Additionally, your blogger has heard from numerous sources, that North Carolina Democrats are shaking in their boots at the prospect of a Tom Fetzer chairmanship. He's well known, dynamic, and can take on the media, with one hand tied behind his back.
Because Tom Fetzer has all of the critical attributes, Katy's Conservative Corner proudly endorses him for State Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party.
As the loss of our liberty looms and freedom shivers in the shadow of socialism, we must reject this new worldview of government first, hand in our pocket liberalism that is creeping into every level of our lives and destroying the freedoms granted to us by our Constitution and bequeathed by our Creator.
America is being weakened spiritually, morally and economically. Our inalienable rights are now an indulgence of government and freedom has never been so fragile, so close to slipping away as it is at this moment in our history.
Liberalism is the new religion of the political class in Washington and Raleigh. They continue to seize power denied by the Constitution to the detriment of our liberty and we must stop the theft of our freedom.
When we gather in Raleigh in June for the State Convention, let us rally on Halifax Mall as a means to peacefully voice our opposition concerning the seizure of our liberty and the mismanagement of the public treasury.
We must halt the invasion of this intrusive socialist government by offering voters an alternative to a Liberal Orwellian Democratic Party that seeks to strangle economic mobility, suppress freedom and surrender American sovereignty.
