For some reason, our governments last year infusion of a massive stimulus into the retrenched and dying economy and later withdrawing it reminds me of the parallel in alcohol intoxication and alcohol withdrawal both of which cause delirium tremens (DTs) and are potentially fatal. Although I am not an economist, I see very little wisdom in the governments drunken behavior and wild mood swings. I wish Washington would act more thoughtfully and avoid these dangerous CT like gyrations.

They've become a national joke. Yet they reside in Chapel Hill and call North Carolina home.
Our once great nation was sadly introduced to Johnny Boy Edwards some years ago, when he won a huge award for a little girl who was stuck on a drain on a swimming pool and won her millions of dollars for her severe medical injuries. Laws were changed to prevent further such instances.
Later, he left his legal practice behind and ran for the US Senate. With his face, that hair, and his award-winning charm, he was considered to be a rising star in the national Democrat party. Sadly, North Carolina fell for it all and elected him.
Fast forward to 2010. His career is in shambles and one would think he would do the decent thing and just go back to practicing law and stay out of the public eye. Apparently Mr. Edwards just loves the spotlight too much.
Recently, the world not only discovered that he had an extra-marital affair with a former campaign videographer, while his wife is dying from cancer, but also that he fathered a child from the ... hookup, for lack of a better word.
Just last week, Mr. Edwards announced that indeed, he finally would live his life privately. Within days, however, he chartered a plane and was bound for earthquake-ravaged Haiti, a place that needed him, about as much as North Carolina does. To add insult to injury, he returned the next day, with a planeload of injured Haitians, apparently promising them medical care in the US.
This blogger certainly hopes that Mr. Edwards will dip into his vast fortune and pay the medical bills of the sad people who he has brought here, and if he does, it is certainly admirable. If he expects the US government to do it, that's another matter entirely.
KCC feels sure he had his staff passing out press packets as they all disembarked onto the tarmac. Your blogger wishes Edwards' goodwill flight had been carried out in private, rather than in front of banks of microphones, if he truly meant what he said about being private.
Now, CNN via WRAL (who has a love fest with the man) is reporting that Elizabeth Edwards has finally had enough and that she and John are separating. While this blogger feels terribly sorry for her plight with cancer, and we hope that she may die in some comfort and piece of mind, KCC wishes that she had not "pulled a Hilary" and stood by her man this long.
Bless you Mrs Edwards. We wish you had saved us from you husband. We wish we had never heard of John Edwards.
The Raleigh News and Observer reported over the weekend that Curtis Media station, WPTF AM 680, won't be the only kid on the Triangle-area block with conservative talk. Clear Channel's WRDU 106.1 FM plans to join the fray just after the Christmas season.
Your blogger is a long-time listener of WPTF since Rush Limbaugh came on the air in syndication more than twenty years ago. WPTF was one of the first stations to carry Limbaugh and contributed to his early success. They also carry a number of other interesting commentators, including afternoon local favorite, Bill LuMaye.
According to an article on the not-always-reliable Wikipedia, WPTF must drop Limbaugh as the program will only be run on Clear Channel stations, according to a new distribution arrangement.
The station, originally known as WVOT, beginning in the early 1960s, went on the air as WRDU on Labor Day, 1984. It played rock music for many years before switching to country in 2006. Currently the station is playing all Christmas, all the time. The station will make the switch on January 1, 2010.
RDU will also carry such right-wing talkers as Glenn Beck (left), and Sean Hannity. Hannity currently can be heard on WPTF.
Phil Zachary, President of Curtis Media, recently told the Triangle Business Journal, that he has decided how to replace Limbaugh, but "he won't reveal those plans just yet".
Your blogger's heart is with WPTF, but understands that the radio business can be cut throat. Her grandfather was in that biz from its early days and she continues to follow the industry with interest.
Clear Channel stations, in the past, have had problems with their "shock value" and have managed to offend everyone from the handicapped to cyclists. KCC learned that this behavior was actually encouraged to boost ratings during several local dust-ups with Triangle station WDCG, otherwise known as G-105.
Because local radio, with the exception of WPTF, became so unlistenable, KCC subscribed to satellite radio about three years ago.
517 years ago a merchant from a small town in Italy sailed from Spain with 90 men aboard the Niña, Pinta, and the flagship Santa Maria landing 2 months later in the New World. Even though Columbus was never able to land in the North America, his voyage is much to be celebrated. His journey became the marriage of European expedition with the Americas, resulting in the first permanent European colonies.
It is amazing to reflect on the hardships that the colonists of the New World endured 517 years ago. Many of those who set sail to the Americas were looking of gold and other riches but many were looking for a place where freedoms are protected unlike in their homelands. The theme of colonization of the Americas was the opportunity for a better life.
Unfortunately, we Americans are still facing the same adversaries in reaching our own prosperity today: oppression, poverty, and an elite power that is out of touch with the mass public. Stimulus packages, bailouts, and a massive health care bill among other things, threaten the woven fabric of freedom from the many that voyaged to this land and the wars that have been fought to protect it.
As we approach the secular holiday Halloween, we should be frightened. We should be frightened about what is happening in Raleigh and Washington, DC. You can stop the atrocities by exercising your patriotic duty by participating in the political process in your own community. I challenge you to do four things this month:
1) Work for a candidate in some capacity. Make phone calls, walk a precinct, or make a donation.
2) Call 10 friends and remind them to vote and ask them to call 10 of their friends.
3) Call your Senator and Congressmen and tell them enough is enough. Remind them of your liberties enumerated in the Constitution.
4) Thank a soldier or veteran for their service to this great nation. We would not be able to exercise our freedoms without them.
Let's continue to work towards that dream of a better life like so many before us came to this land for.
Start today! Get involved!
THE FUTURE IS RED! THE FUTURE IS NOW!

Katy's ConservativeCorner is posting an e-mail we received from the Eagle Forum, regarding the big vote on the Energy Tax. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has scheduled the Household Energy Tax Vote this Week! Please Take Action to defeat the so-called Global Warming bill!!!!
We thank the Eagle Forum for providing this important information to us:
Late Monday night, during yet another closed-door meeting in the House of Representatives, the liberal majority maneuvered to bring the highly unpopular 946-page energy-rationing bill, better known as the Waxman-Markey cap-and-tax bill, to the House floor for a vote by the end of this week!
Sponsored by Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) and Rep. Edward Markey (D-MA), the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, H.R. 2454 imposes a system of "cap-and-tax" in order to combat so-called "global warming." This massive, across-the-board household energy tax is being disguised by congressional liberals and is being sold under the slogan "cap-and-trade," which simply means giving the government power to put a cap on the amount of carbon emissions (CO2) produced by the production of electricity, gasoline, and heating oil, and forcing businesses to actively lobby Congress for higher cap levels and to buy permits for the emissions they are allowed.
Rather than calling it "cap-and-trade," it should be called "cap-and-tax"-as it caps Americans' standard of living and taxes our use of products whose manufacture emits CO2.
If passed and signed into law, H.R. 2454 will further cripple our economy and drain your pockets in the following ways:
1. It will raise your household electricity rates by 90 percent, gasoline by 74 percent, and residential natural gas prices by 55 percent by 2035, after adjusting for inflation.
2. It imposes an annual burden of $144.8 billion per year on U.S. households, and it will reduce household earnings by a projected $37.8 billion.
3. It will further cut U.S. employment levels by 965,000 jobs by reducing economic output by $136 billion per year-this translates to a $1,145 increase in energy costs per American household.
4. It will force low-income households to disproportionately bear the across-the-board energy cost increase, as a larger percentage of the poor's income goes toward energy costs, as opposed to wealthier households.
5. It sets the stage to effectively kill the coal industry as it will be taxed so heavily, it will not be able to sustain itself.
6. If enacted, H.R. 2454 would be the biggest government takeover of the economy since the Second World War, which is the last time energy, food, and other basic commodities were rationed. Waxman-Markey amounts to a $2 trillion tax increase on middle-class Americans. Not only would this be the biggest tax increase in the history of the world, but it is yet another example of President Barack Obama violating his campaign promise not to raise taxes on the middle class. This cap-and-tax bill is simply an underhanded way of facilitating a colossal transfer of wealth from consumers to big businesses.
7. Household energy taxation with the ultimate goal of energy-rationing is dangerous, not only for your pocketbook, but also for the well-being of your family and your standard of living.
8. H.R. 2454 is a hidden tax and it must be defeated this week in the House!
The Democrat Majority has announced that amendments to this bill can be made no later than 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 25th. We expect a floor vote to occur soon after that, so please begin calling your Representatives and tell them to vote NO on cap-and-tax!
Capitol Switchboard: 202-224-3121
Watch The Heritage Foundation's David Kreutzer discuss how Cap-and-Tax will raise your family's household energy costs!
We are all aware of the love affair that exists within the mainstream media toward President Barack Obama.
An upcoming hour-long prime time special called Questions for the President: A Prescription for America illustrates that affair with perfection. The event will be televised nationally on the ABC television network during which the President will answer questions presented by members of the audience selected by ABC News.
The network has refused to accept advocacy ads during the show. In an e-mail aimed at raising $100,000 to buy air time for a counterprogram, RNC Chairman Michael Steele said that his request to add the RNC’s views to the debate during the special was "flatly rejected" by ABC News.
This is blatant bias and it’s an excellent example of the partnership that exists between the Obama Administration and the main stream media. There is an un-American agenda that is being advanced by this administration and Conservatives across this country must act now in order to stop it.
I encourage every Freedom loving American to begin buying shares of the Walt Disney Company, the parent of the ABC television network. We’re all conscious of the recession, but if every Freedom fighter in America were to buy 5, 10, 20, 50 or even a 100 shares of Walt Disney, we could send a resounding message to the liberal media and the President.
When a news organization distorts its operations as a means to influence or advance a particular agenda, it contradicts the traditions of a free and uninhibited press. The Walt Disney Company should take all appropriate steps to insure the independence and integrity of its news organization by mandating that its broadcast network consent to opposing viewpoints during the President’s appearance.
If the Walt Disney Company rejects our call for fairness, then we as stockholders of the Walt Disney Company will have a deafening roar, because our voices will unquestionably be heard once we own stock.
We’re all mad as hell and its time we do something about the growing threat of Socialism in the United States of America.
According to news sites world wide, on Tuesday, blocked Twitter access from within its borders ahead of today's 20th anniversary of the Tinanmen Square massacre. Twitter is a "microblogging" site where one gets "followers" (readers) and sends tweets (microblog posts). It's extremely popular as anyone can send a tweet from a cell phone via a text message, a laptop computer, and via a number of other ways.
The Massacre was horrible. Your blogger was in summer school that summer, finishing up the last of her college coursework. Every night, Ted Koppell was on ABC's Nightline talking about the subject and the tension built. Many of we young conservatives at the time were inspired to fight communism and to work towards freedom and democracy for everyone, and for every nation. KCC became more dedicated to freedom than ever.
Then it was over and blood covered the streets of the Chinese capital city. The freedom-seeking university students were dead and we could do nothing about it.
According to Janet Watson (photo courtesy, left), writing for the Ottawa Citizen, and a student backpacking through Southeast Asia at the time,
"On May 13, thousands of pro-democracy students had occupied Tiananmen Square beginning a hunger strike to press for political reform. At the same time, international media had descended upon Beijing in anticipation of a state visit by Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, the first summit in 30 years between the two countries.
At the conclusion of Gorbachev’s visit, the government declared martial law, but it was half-hearted. Protesters blocked the army from entering Beijing and it retreated.
As we made our way north toward Beijing by train, boat and bus, we watched the growing democratic movement flourish, in villages and cities. With universities and colleges closed, students and workers, protesting corruption and inflation, marched through the streets chanting democratic slogans and carrying red and white banners to display their solidarity with the Beijing protesters.
Businessmen, shopkeepers and even the elderly cheered them on. I spoke with a retired professor in Chengdu, Sichuan, who said there had never been so much spirit in China. He said he wished he could be a student again.
We watched students climb aboard trains and buses headed for Beijing to join their comrades. Everywhere we went it seemed people were swept up in the students’ fervour for democracy.
We arrived in Beijing on May 30. Every day, after visiting tourist sites, we stopped at Tiananmen Square to speak with the protesters in their scattered village of tents.
The atmosphere was festive as the protesting students barbecued, sang along to rock music piped from loud speakers and huddled around guitars, strumming quietly in the hot afternoon sun.
As foreigners, we enjoyed celebrity status. The students often approached us, wondering what the world was hearing about their demonstration. They showed off their Goddess of Democracy statue, asked us to sign T-shirts and wanted to practice speaking English. A few said they were anxious to get back to their studies.
But on June 2, Deng Xiaoping and other Communist party leaders, humiliated by the international attention, ordered a military crackdown to end the crisis. On the afternoon of June 3, returning from an outing to the Great Wall, we dropped in at Tiananmen Square which was surrounded by army vehicles and tanks.
If you haven't heard much, if anything about this in the "lamestream media", don't be surprised. They want you to pretend that Communism is dead. It's not and your blogger can tell you this FIRST HAND.
Read an interesting history of the events leading up to the massacre, here. Also, watch the video, produced by the BBC on June 4th, 1989. If you are too young to remember this event, please educate yourself on this. Do not think for one moment that China is not our enemy.
Even President Reagan disappointed me when he dealt with Communist China. He continued to allow trade with this nation and assisted our efforts to trade with them, allowing this enemy to grow into the huge economic and military threat it is to us today.
In the opinion of this blogger, the opening of trade with China, not Watergate, is the terrible legacy of the Richard M. Nixon presidency.
Families with students on year-round calendar should keep children home from school on Monday Wake GOP Chairman Claude E. Pope, Jr. is assailing the Wake County Public School System’s (WCPSS) decision to send all students on year-round calendars to school on Memorial Day. These tens of thousands of students, along with traditional calendar students, instead did not go to school the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, a convenience holiday.
“Memorial Day, which was established in 1868, is a national holiday of remembrance of the millions of American patriots who have fought to protect this country’s freedom. It is shameful that the WCPSS decided to make this special day a school day for Wake students who attend year-round schools,” said Pope. “On behalf of the Wake County Republican Party, I urge parents to keep their children home from school so that they can honor our veterans with their families.
“Decisions by the school board and WCPSS like this once again illustrate that the needs of Wake parents and students are not a priority. This is why the Wake GOP and PACs like Take Wake Schools Back are working hard to recruit and elect four new school board members who will make common-sense decisions and listen to parents,” Pope added.
Editor's Note: This issue was discussed on Friday on the Bill LuMaye show on WPTF-AM 680 in the Raleigh-Durham market. Your blogger, streamed it online from Emerald Isle and called into the show to discuss the issue and help explain it to the listeners.
Additionally, your blogger is a Wake County GOP activist.
According to a new Gallop poll, for the first time, more Americans describe themselves as Pro-Life than pro-choice. The poll, conducted May 7-10, 2009, found that 51% called themselves pro-life versus 43% pro-choice on the issue of abortion.
Additonally, the poll showed that Republicans are continuting their shift to the right. Results are based on telephone interviews with 1,015 national adults, aged 18 and older, conducted May 7-10, 2009.
For results based on the total sample of national adults, one can say with 95% confidence that the maximum margin of sampling error is ±3 percentage points.
Because Katy's Conservative Corner has a policy of not copying and pasting (i.e.stealing) the work of others, we urge you to read the full article, regarding the survey and methods. There are other interesting tidbits we think you'll find interesting, too.
Do you know that one-third of North Carolina’s elementary and middle school students perform below grade level expectations in such basic subjects as math and reading, while more than half perform below national standards?
Did you know that fewer than half of North Carolina schools are meeting Adequate Yearly Progress standards for No Child Left Behind, compared to 74 percent of schools nationally?
Are you aware that nearly one-third of North Carolina high school students each year do not graduate and among economically disadvantaged students, two of every five students will not graduate?
With this miserable record of failure, North Carolina legislators (i.e. Democrats) are on the threshold of adding yet another program of study to an already disastrous lesson plan, contraceptives.
That’s right folks, with kids performing below grade level and 1/3 of high school students not graduating, we’re now left to entrust moral values to the public school system by way of the so-called Healthy Youth Act.
Sex education must be a lesson in parenting, not a job for teachers. Obviously, it can and is often a subject of embarrassment, but nevertheless there are responsibilities that parents shouldn’t avoid. The ramifications of sexual activity are life altering and that’s why it is portant for parents to take an active part in the proper moral education of their kids and not leave that task to an already challenged public school system.
Forbid government from seizing your parental rights! If government can’t prudently manage our tax dollars, then they certainly can’t be trusted to properly nurture the moral underpinnings of our children.
If you want kids to prosper in America today then stop social engineering in our schools and start teaching the importance of moral principles as well as Godliness!
Editor's Note: The author, Kevin Connor, is chairman of the Dare County Republican Party. He asks that you please keep his father in your prayers in last Friday's death of his step-mother, Miriam. She was only 53.
A number of bad bills have begun to pop up in the North Carolina
Legislature. With all the media's attention on President Obama's shenanigans in
Washington, we can't afford to sit by and let the troublemakers in
Raleigh go unnoticed.
Below are some of the bills that have been
introduced with action items to take for defeat. Please contact your representatives in the
NC House and the NC Senate and urge them to oppose these bills.
out who represents you in Raleigh, CLICK HERE and use the "who represents me" search by zip code on the lower-right side.
H88 - The Healthy Youth Act (aka. comprehensive sex education)
year's "comprehensive sex education" bill never made it out of
committee thanks to grassroots conservatives like us. But now, the bill
is back and so once again we need to take action. Note how the primary
sponsors have titled this the "healthy youth act." What a fraud! This
revised bill tries to calm the fears of parents opposed to immoral sex
education in the public schools by giving parents a choice of
abstinence or "comprehensive sex education." But, as that old saying
goes: the devil is in the details.
Section 5, part A of H88 reads
"Teaches respect for marriage and committed relationships" - a green
light for the schools to equate gay, lesbian, transgendered and any
other type of relationship with the sacrament of marriage between one
man and one woman.
Section 5, part D reads "Teaches about the
effectiveness and safety of all FDA-approved contraceptive methods in
preventing pregnancy." In other words: birth control and abortion.
Bills such as H88 are a gold mine for supremacist judges and activist
e's what could happen if H88 passes and is signed into
law: A gay-rights group could sue the NC public schools, demanding that
books like "Heather Has Two Mommies" be taught under Section 5, part A
of the bill. Representatives from the abortion industry could also sue
for their agenda to be included in the public schools under Section 5,
part D. Please contact the leaders of the Committee on Education where
H88 currently resides. CLICK HERE for committee members.
H207 - The Safer Communities Act (aka. hate crimes)
H88, the sponsors of this bill have made sure to cover up their agenda
with "safer communities act." Again, the devil is in the details.
Section 2 starts off with "Ethnic intimidation; teaching any technique
to be used for ethic intimidation"
Part A goes on to clarify ethnic
intimidation to include "real or perceived sexual orientation" in
addition to the descriptions of every other human being on the face of
the earth. First of all, we already have laws against assaulting,
stalking and making threats, so this new bill is not needed. H207, if
passed and signed into law will be another green light for militant
plaintiffs and supremacist judges.
Faith-based groups who minister to
convert homosexuals could find themselves prosecuted for "ethnic
intimidation" under H207. Anyone who wants to play the victim could
file a lawsuit charging "ethnic intimidation."
Our First Amendment
rights would be assault. H207 has been assigned to the Committee on
Judiciary I. Please contact members of this committee and urge them to
shelve this intimidating bill. CLICK HERE for committee members.
H161 - Require Six-Year-Olds To Attend School (anti Home school bill)
parent who home-schools their child should get on the phone right away
to their representative in the NC House and members of the Committee on
Education where H161 resides.
Section 1 requires parents/guardians to
make sure their child between age six and 16 attends school
continuously for a period equal to the time which the public school to
which the child is assigned is in session.
Section 1 clarifies "school"
as "all public and non-public schools as have teachers and curricula
that are approved by the State Board of Education." Parents of children
who continue to miss "school" for what the public schools deem
unexcused absences must work with a "school attendance counselor" to
"eliminate the problem".
This is a nanny-state, Hillary Clinton, "it
takes a village" bill that will intimidate the rights of parents who
choose private, parochial and home school for their children.
could turn out to be especially dangerous if people like Bill Ayers or
Ward Churchill wind up on the State Board of Education and start
determining approved curricula. Please contact members of
the Committee on Education and urge them to oppose this bill. CLICK HERE for committee members.
H177 - Healthy Families and Healthy Workplaces Act (anti-small business bill)
Carolina's unemployment rate is now higher than the national average so
why on earth should we pass a law that will drive more employers out of
business and out of our state?
That's what H177 will do by requiring
that all workers have paid sick leave to address their own health needs
and those of their families.
Many small business simply can't afford to
provide 32 hours of accrued paid sick leave for every employee and
large businesses can afford leave North Carolina for other states (or
countries) where the government won't require them to provide 56 such
hours per employee. H177 is with the Committee on Commerce, Small
Business and Entrepreneurship. CLICK HERE to contact members of this committee.
S14 - Create Employment Safety and Security Commission
another anti-business bill that will halt entrepreneurship and chase
job providers out of North Carolina.
S14 creates a new taxpayer-funded
bureaucracy and intimidates employers with big-brother oversight and
costly business modifications. Part III, section 9 of the bill defines
this new commission's "advisory council" to include representatives
from labor (unions) and a "representative with a knowledge of migrant
labor" (illegal aliens).
CLICK HERE to contact members of the Commerce Committee; tell them to defeat this job-killing bill. Editor's Note: James Andrew Dunn is state president of the Eagle Forum North Carolina. Your blogger thanks him for this informative, yet frightening update.
Agent Delbert Richburg Immigration and Customs Enforcement ~ Charlotte District Office 6130 Tyvola Centre Drive Charlotte, NC 28217
Subject ~ Illegal aliens at Biltmore Park
Dear Agent Richburg:
Earlier in the week I received a call and follow-up visit from a tradesman who had recently been laid off from the large scale work project at Biltmore Park in Asheville. This is a site of on-going major construction involving 12+ large structures. His issue of contention was the significant number of "illegal" workers employed by the various sub-contractors on the site.
To give you a sense of scale of this development project, the City of Asheville has a full-time on-site inspection service on the property that I attempted to visit today. During that visit I had the opportunity to observe that a significant number of the workers (I would estimate 50% of those I observed and/or spoke to directly) were of Latino descent. I spoke to 6+ subgroups that did not speak English - several did speak Spanish.
The gentleman who escorted me through the site offered that his co-workers routinely acknowledged being in the country illegally and working either under the table or through the use of false identification. I, of course, have no evidence with which to accuse these workers or their employers of breaking the law. Nonetheless, statistically 50-70% of those not speaking English are in the state/country illegally.
I am bringing this project to your attention specifically due to the large number of workers on site. I am also aware that your one visit to Mills Manufacturing has probably created more jobs for WNC (Western North Carolina) than the City's economic development efforts for the year. Arvato, formerly Sonopress, may be known to you as the company down the road from Mills where 50+ employees left the plant during your Mills raid. That company is to be commended for their subsequent efforts to hire legal citizens and authentically credentialed workers. Others have followed suit.
As an aside, the 2 elevator shafts in the six story Hilton hotel that is currently under construction were fully exposed on three observed floors. I appreciate your continued efforts to enforce legal immigration in Asheville and WNC .
Carl Mumpower Asheville City Council
EDITOR'S NOTES: The author, Dr. Carl Mumpower (left, campaigning in 2008), ran unsuccessfully for US Congress in our state's 11th District, due to a huge Democrat tide, which voted closet liberal Heath Shuler back into office.
With Shuler expected to challenge Senator Richard Burr in 2010, thus leaving the 11th District seat open, the timing would be ripe for a Republican, such as Mumpower, to take the seat. Your blogger proudly endorsed Mumpower in 2008 and does so again, here.
If there is no "Draft Mumpower" movement for 2010, let it begin now. Not only was he not afraid of the Asheville liberal establishment, he was also not afraid of those in his own party.
We need Mumpower in Congress. We need his fearless ability to stand up to the establishment, even to those, such as the the Republican National Committee (RNC). Mumpower and others were vindicated when those old RNC "leaders" were recently thrown out of office, and instead voted in the more conservative Michael Steele and a completely new team.
Mumpower is the lone conservative on a "crunchy, granola" city council in Asheville, and is used to standing up for what he believes in, often when he is alone! That stance reminds this blogger of the late Jesse Helms, who often proudly stood alone, and never folded when he believed he was right.

That's what I love about our party. Lots of candidates and a real battle. Democrats would never have tolerated such an election, using a rubber stamp instead.
I have watched Michael Steele fairly closely the past couple of years. He has been a courageous Conservative in a very liberal state of MD.
He has withstood jeers from blacks and been pelted by Oreo cookies. I'd like to see most white GOP members stand as tough when under fire. Steele is a Black catholic, very rare, which says something about his conservative convictions. He also believes the GOP needs to use more electronic means to reach voters in the future
I have encouraged a number of GOP leaders to go on the offensive regarding race relations in February, Black history month. Attached is something I put together. It underscores the long history of African-American Republicanism in our country, which includes one well-known member, Martin Luther King, Jr. We need to get this message out and stop being afraid to carry the timeless, good news of Conservatism into the poorest communities and liberal strongholds.

Your blogger appreciates all the support her loyal readers have given this site during the last year. There are a few readers and contributors, in particular, that we wish we could thank individually, but you certainly know who you are. God bless you all as we celebrate the birth our our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We'll be taking a break but we will be back soon, just as hard hitting as ever. Keep sending in your news tips, and remember the best reader mail will be published. If you wish to remain anonymous, please state that in your letter.
Meanwhile, we do not wish to forget the sacrifices of our conservative Jewish friends, who are celebrating Hanukkah. We Christians owe our Jewish friends so much, and we've worked together to accomplish many goals to achieve our conservative agenda in modern times. Let us not forget our friendship by honoring them while they celebrate their special days, as well.
Just recently, your blogger was helping out a nice lady who is a young 75. She's active, and loves to be with her grandson, and son. She's smart and once had a promising career as a pharmacist before marrying in the mid-1960s.
She was telling KCC how hard things have been for her since her husband passed away, 1 1/2 years ago. She had to learn what an inspection sticker was, that you had to renew the license tags on your cars, what bills had to be paid, etc.
Her husband had always taken care of these things and he did her no favors by leaving her with no knowledge of how to take care of the basics after he was gone. He suffered from a two-year illness and even still, did not teach her how to take care of basic household matters. He took care of all that was once referred to as "husband things". This woman luckily has a son within two hours of her. He set up her bills on auto pay, and he showed her how to do other things.
This lady reminded KCC of her own dear Grandmother Stuart, of Cleveland, Tennessee, who died in 1994. Your blogger adored her grandmother, and never could figure out, why her she refused to drive. KCC's Grandfather refused to let her have a job outside the home, even after the kids were grown, saying "no wife of mine will ever work". KCC is a stay-at-home mom and supports parents raising their own children, but saying she could never work, just because, was beyond comprehension for this generation.
In contrast, your blogger's mother did everything. She was one of those 1970s super moms. Susanworked, raised two kids, one a conservative from childhood (your blogger) and one who grew into a conservative.
Susan waited on her husband, hand and foot and she made sure her kids felt loved and adored. She raised your blogger to think for herself, speak up for herself, and do almost anything for herself. In fact, the "helpless women" out there are hard for this blogger to relate to.
Thankfully, your blogger has never felt the pressures her mother had in the 1970s, when Lynda Carter (above, left) was on TV playing Wonder Woman and looked sexy and beautiful while saving the world. KCC just wants to help make this world a better place than she found it, and raise a good son who respects women, and be a loving, devoted wife to her husband.
Luckily for this blogger, her father made sure that she wasn't helpless, especially when it came to dealing with automobiles. He taught her how to change the tires, the oil, the belts and hoses, and how to be comfortable discussing such things with a mechanic. It went on to save your blogger a lot of money.
KCC and her husband have a "nearly equal" partnership as nothing can ever be completely equal. Since he goes out, slays the dragons, and earns the bulk of our income, he has final say on the finances. In turn, you blogger has the call on all things related to child rearing. Everything else is a consensus.
Your blogger hopes never to see the age-old helpless woman again, unless she is unable to help herself due to illness or handicap.
Younger women are getting more educated. But many assume that educated women are liberal women or feminists. That's not always the case. There are many woman in the conservative movement and they are out there, leading the way.
I often tease my male friends by saying, sure you guys give the money, but we women get the stuff done!
Don't be afraid to teach an interested young lady about conservatism. Conservatives have a positive message and that's always a good thing.
We have all heard of the Hollywood "Blacklist" of the 1950s when people were denied employment because of suspected associations with the American Communist Party. Liberals have especially spoken about the blacklist in disgust.
Fast forward sixty years. On November 4th, a referendum known as Proposition 8 was on the ballot for California voters. People all across the nation participated, despite it being a California-only measure.
It passed, despite the many leftists fighting it and some North Carolina citizens gave money to the cause in support of it. This year, instead of a blacklist, your blogger, along with others, proposes a white list, a group of donors with whom we SHOULD do business, thanks to their support of California's Prop 8.
Thanks to the California Secretary of State's office, KCC discovered who donated in support of Proposition 8. Though some are private citizens or retired, there is a movement nationally to get people in every state to support those who have businesses, who donated supporting the measure protecting traditional marriage.
Out of 153 total donors from the Old North State, 13 brave citizens stood up and said, "we want to preserve traditional marriage."
Here we list, alphabetically, by first name, those who gave in Support of Prop 8. Typepad isn't great at doing tables, but here goes:
Carolyn Schramm $200 Charlotte N/A Donald Luther $100 Hampstead N/A Hal Abbott $250 Garner Access International Holden Higgenbotham $250 Chapel Hill UNC-CH James Helvey $500 Winston-Salem CMT Asset MGT Jason Yedowitz, Sr $50 Indian Trail Self-employed Judy H. Sherrill $1,000 Hickory N/A Kenneth Purcell $100 Mooresville Hendrick Motorsports Lai Chow Kok $100 Winston-Salem Winston-Salem Cardiology Patrick Donleycott $100 Mebane N/A Richard Rust $100 Chapel Hill N/A anon. $100 Raleigh requested removal Stephen Scribner $100 Pinehurst International Life Science
If you can, do business with their employers, and if you know them, show them some love this Christmas season. Heck, show everyone some love! But thank these folks for standing up for our traditional marriages. It sadly seems that tradition is going out of fashion.
