Phyllis Schlafly, president and founder of the conservative grassroots public policy organization Eagle Forum, made the following remarks after the public announcement that formerly pro-life DemocratBart Stupak(D-MI) will cast a "yes" vote for the Senate health care bill. (The bill passed the house Sunday evening and was signed into law on Monday by President Obama.)
"It is naïve for any elected official, especially one who describes himself as ‘pro-life,' to expect that a promise to issue an Executive Order that reasserts the intentions of the Hyde Amendment will be fulfilled by the most pro-abortion president to ever sit in the White House. Perhaps Mr. Stupak and his fellow pro-life Democrats forget that President Obama's first Executive Order was the repeal of the Mexico City Policy to allow for international funding of abortion."
"Not only would an Executive Order be rendered meaningless in the face of Congress passing legislation which actively provides for the massive expansion and funding of abortion services, but anyone who doubts the abortion tsunami which awaits this bill becoming law lives in a fantasy world." "Barack Obama has lined every existing federal agency with the most dedicated pro-abortion ideologues, and we know that he will continue this pattern of pro-abortion appointments when it comes time for him to fill the over-100 bureaucracies created to administer his socialized health care program."
"Any formerly pro-life Democrat who voted ‘Yes' on the Senate health care bill tonight will be forever remembered as being among the deciding votes which facilitated the largest expansion of abortion services since Roe v. Wade."
"Mr. Stupak and his Democrat followers have now clarified that you cannot be pro-life and be a Democrat. If abortion was truly their biggest issue, they wouldn't willfully align themselves with the Party of Death."
"This vote has exposed the myth of the ‘pro-life Democrat.' With this single vote, the Democratic Party has divided our nation into the Democrat Party of Death and the Republican Party of Life, and future elections will never be the same."
The following is a message from the NC Family Policy Council. They are working hard, along with a number of groups to stop Health Care Reform, aka "ObamaCare". It can be done. Democratic Members of Congress realize that their seats are on the line in November.

Democratic leaders are considering perhaps their most gutless move yet: a bill with unpopularity matched only by its high cost could become law without even requiring House members to vote for it! We must get back to Washington to fight this most recent assault on the American people and our system of government.
Simply put this bill is a disaster that will raise taxes, cost jobs and destroy the best healthcare system in the world. We need to take the U.S. Capital by storm, and make our voices heard!
We reserve the right to cancel if not enough interest from any of these cities. Your money would be returned to you if cancellation occurs.

Liz Cheney, the brilliant daughter of former Vice-President Dick Cheney and Co-Founder of Keep America Safe, was introduced by ACU & CPAC Chairman David Keene. Unfortunately, I had to leave her midday Thursday speech prematurely.
I did get to hear her lambaste President BarackObama, though. Liz said that "experts" had predicted the death of the conservative movement after the brutal 2008 elections. They were wrong. Scott Brown's win in Massachusetts shocked and frightened Obama and the Democrats, who had misjudged America's tolerance for socialist politics.
Liz decried how Obama did not govern from the center, as many people naively thought he would. Instead he raises taxes to pay for nationalized healthcare. He does not believe in American exceptionalism. Instead he traveled the world to apologize for America's perceived "transgressions." He even incredibly wants to give foreign terrorists the same constitutional rights as US citizens.
Later, Liz surprised the audience by introducing her father. Vice-President Dick Cheney, who I wish had been our former *President*, spoke briefly to a delighted audience. The senior Cheney earned a standing ovation by predicting 2010 would be a great year for Conservatives, and that Obama would be a one-term President. He even received such an ovation just for entering the room.

The 80s song by the alternative group "The Smiths" comes to mind today, when thinking of the money President Barack Obama poured down the proverbial drain he signed the so-called Stimulus bill, which has mortgaged the future of our children and grandchildren. KCC's young son doesn't know it, but he'll spend his life working to pay it off.
Young Bobby is already angry at Obama for cutting NASA and the American space program. As his mommy and daddy have explained, the Chinese will now beat us back to the moon. Bobby dreams of being an astronaut and KCC hopes it is not already too late for him. In fact, he's ready to head for Pluto tomorrow, when called upon.
Meanwhile, Congressman Mike Pence (R-Indiana, right), chairman of the U.S. House Republican Conference, told Congress his own opinions about the Spendulus bill, on the eve of the CPAC 2010 conference:
"One year later, one thing is clear: the stimulus bill has failed. One year later, not one net job has been created as unemployment rose from 7.6 percent to nearly 10 percent nationwide. Mr. President, millions of Americans are asking, 'where are the jobs?'
"It is time for Washington to take a new approach to get this economy moving again based on time-honored solutions: fiscal discipline in Washington, D.C. and immediate tax relief for working families, small businesses and family farms. Let's put American families first, set aside the big government schemes on health care and energy and take decisive action to get this economy growing again."
The winners in the straw poll held February 6th, at the Cumberland County GOP Ronald Reagan Republican Roundup, were 8th congressional district candidate Lou Huddleston, 7th district candidate Will Breazeale, 2nd congressional district candidate Renee Ellmers and Governor and former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Huddleston, Breazeale and Ellmers won their district vote and Palin was the choice of attendees for the 2012 presidential race.
Other congressional candidates attending the event which drew over 300 people and included speeches by former Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory and Senator Richard Burr, were newly announced 2nd district congressional candidate Todd Gailas; newly announced 7th congressional district candidates Tim Wilkes and Ilario Pantano; and 8th congressional district candidates Tim D'Annunzio, Harold Johnson and Hal Jordan.
Local and General Assembly GOP candidates also were in attendance, to include N.C. Senate 22 candidate Wesley Meredith, N.C. Senate 21 candidate Wade Fowler, N.C. State House 44 candidates Brian Kent and Johnny Dawkins, N.C. State House 22 candidate John Szoka, N.C. State House 45 candidate Jackie Warner and County commissioner At-Large candidates Diane Wheatley and Linda Devore.
ErickErickson, a blogger at nationally known conservative at "right-of-center" blog site, RedState, says he's always banned "Truthers", those who believe that the terrorist actions on Sept 11, 2001 was a government conspiracy.
This blogger agrees that those folks are at best,a bit "kooky".
Now, Erickson writes that banning the so-called "birthers" is next:
":Increasingly, we have also banned a number of individuals who think Barack Obama is disqualified from being President because despite the Republican Governor of Hawaii confirming the legitimacy of the Democratic President’s birth origin as a citizen of the United States.
"Today I want to reaffirm and make it more definitive. If you think 9/11 was an inside job or you really want to debate whether or not Barack Obama is an American citizen eligible to be President, RedState is not a place for you."
KCC has never published anything regarding such "truth" or "birth" postings from these fringe elements and never would. This blog is written by conservatives for conservatives looking forward information about North Carolina politics from a Conservative perspective. Groups like the John Birch society are among these fringe groups.
Your blogger applauds RedState and encourages you to read Erickson's full article.
Former Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin, has been catching a lot of flak in the lame stream media these last few days for her use of her own hand as a place to write notes. Frankly, your blogger thinks this is just plain silly.
Who hasn't had to give a talk and used their own palm to take down quick talking points? It's better than a huge teleprompter that President Obama is forced to rely on!
In her honor, this blogger dedicates KCC's palm to our favorite conservative, Sarah Palin (above left).
This morning, your blogger was discussing with a friend, how amazed we are why those on both the right and left get so negatively emotional when they discuss former Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin? "Why are her naysayers so afraid", we wondered.
Palin has it all and is a politician out of central casting. She is smart, no-nonsense, and practical. She's devoutly conservative and is an adoring mother. Currently on her book tour, she's traveling with her young son Trig and her show-stealing daughter, Piper. Monday, she made a stop in North Carolina, meeting with troops and their families at Fort Bragg.
Everywhere she goes, the crowds are huge. Palin is not allowed to even personalize copies of the books she's signing. She just says "hello" to the purchaser and moves to the next person in line. This devotion on the level of rock star status.
During the 2008 Presidental campaign, Vice Presidential candidate Palin drew larger crowds than did the Republican nominee, Senator John McCain. Many conservatives told the press that they turned out only to vote for Palin, not to vote for McCain. Clearly, people see something in her that they like and they appreciate her home spun conservative values.
Your blogger has grown tired of hearing the same old line: Sarah Palin is not "smart enough to be President." Gov. Palin is extremely bright and history has shown that it doesn't take a member of Mensa to occupy the White House.
Ronald Reagan was an intelligent man, but he made sure to surround himself with the people he felt were the best in their areas of expertise and then he let them do their jobs. He didn't micro-manage as President James Earl Carter had done in the previous administration.
Today, KCC is saddened to see so many (liberal) women feel threatened by Gov. Palin's success. It seems that there is some sort of female jealousy about. They feel if you oppose abortion, support the death penalty, and act like a lady, liberal women run, not walk away.
Even Oprah got into the act last week on her show, when she interviewed the former Governor. She tried every way she could to imply that Palin was in some way, a poor mother. Yet, Palin handled Winfrey's intrusive and tacky questions deftly, with class and dignity.
Let's hope this doesn't extend to our fellow Republicans. It's certainly okay to support the candidate of one's choice, but to run down opposition in one's own party is simply not acceptable.
Palin may not have handled the infamous Katie Couric interview the very best she could have, and she clearly received some very bad advice during it, but she's easy on her feet when talking about her book, Levi Johnson, and her passions about her husband and family. Additionally, she enjoys discussing her world views and her ideals, and even becomes a little preachy to a liberal interviewer.
The very fear she insights in liberals is exactly what the Republican party needs in 2012. The GOP is above affirmative action for women or blacks. We want the most qualified individual and Sarah Palin is clearly in the bunch of contenders for 2012.
Right now, Palin says she is focusing on getting conservatives elected in 2010 and will worry about 2012 later. But when that time comes, anyone would be foolish to count Governor Sarah Palin out.
NOTE: Your blogger purchased Palin's book online via Amazon for $14.00 and received it in less than seven hours. She didn't pay extra for shipping! Talk about service!

As the loss of our liberty looms and freedom shivers in the shadow of socialism, we must reject this new worldview of government first, hand in our pocket liberalism that is creeping into every level of our lives and destroying the freedoms granted to us by our Constitution and bequeathed by our Creator.
America is being weakened spiritually, morally and economically. Our inalienable rights are now an indulgence of government and freedom has never been so fragile, so close to slipping away as it is at this moment in our history.
Liberalism is the new religion of the political class in Washington and Raleigh. They continue to seize power denied by the Constitution to the detriment of our liberty and we must stop the theft of our freedom.
When we gather in Raleigh in June for the State Convention, let us rally on Halifax Mall as a means to peacefully voice our opposition concerning the seizure of our liberty and the mismanagement of the public treasury.
We must halt the invasion of this intrusive socialist government by offering voters an alternative to a Liberal Orwellian Democratic Party that seeks to strangle economic mobility, suppress freedom and surrender American sovereignty.
Something needs to be done to discredit and turn the American people against the Obama-Congressional Democratic agenda.
I believe an aggressive campaign that defines the Obama-Democratic agenda as “Not the American Way” would be an effective and succinct way to defeat their un-American plans. It would be a simple way to contrast their socialist agenda with the conservative American agenda that favors individual Americans as opposed to a bigger, more powerful government. It could help change public opinion against their agenda, their party and their candidates in 2010 and 2012. And it would provide a unified rallying cry that all conservatives could get behind and support.
1. Bailouts For Corporations Is Not The American Way.
2. Earmarks (Pork Barrel Spending) For Politicians’ Special Projects Is Not The American Way.
3. Imposing Socialist Healthcare On The American People Through The Budget, Not By The Legislative Process, Is Not The American Way.
4. Imposing Excessively High Taxes On The American People Is Not The American Way.
5. Not Protecting American Citizens Against Terrorism Is Not The American Way.
6. Making The Federal Budget A Higher Priority Than The Individual Budgets of American Citizens Is Not The American Way.
7. Obama’s firing of General Motors Chief Executive Rick Wagoner Is Not The American Way.
If you agree this campaign has merit, I hope you will use the “Not The American Way” slogan at every opportunity.
I have no proprietary claims on this slogan. My only desire is for the Obama-Democratic agenda to be defeated and to be replaced by proven conservative principles.
One of the many lessons of last November is that if the Republican Party is to remain competitive, we can't afford to do things the same way ever again. The Digital Age has brought about an unprecedented revolution in politics, empowering people like never before by giving them the tools to organize quickly and influence policy. The old "top down" paradigm of political authority and party structure we have so long relied on has been replaced by a very effective "bottom-up" form of activism.
When the average person can put up a Facebook page and create a vast network of like-minded "friends" or communicate to thousands of people instantly using technologies like Twitter, political movements can be quite literally created overnight.
The bottom-line here is that people don't need to rely on political parties or their often outmoded authoritarian structures the same way they did in the past. They don't need to wait to be told what to do or how to do it by responding to orders from above; they can make a real difference all by themselves.
To adapt to this new world, our party leadership should focus on empowering our folks --- rather than trying to control and micromanage everything they are trying to do to further our shared Republican cause. The world is far too interconnected now and things move far too quickly. We need to encourage this new spirit of individual activism as a Party by lending our support, our resources, our experience, and our wisdom...and then get out of the way.
By embracing these new technologies, we will be well-positioned to communicate our time-honored Principles as a party to a whole new generation of voters. We don't need to change what we believe as Republicans; we just need to be able to explain our message in ways that younger people will listen.
Editor's Note:Stephen G. Duncan is the chairman of the 11th Republican Congressional District. That district includes Buncombe, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, and Yancey Counties.
For a complete schedule of upcoming Republican meetings across the 11th District, please visit their website.
Luckily with Michael Steele as the new head of the Republican National Committee (RNC), we shall see just these things happen on a national basis.
Will they happen statewide? The jury is out. Currently, the NC GOP has zero budget for any technological advancements. Your blogger believes that members of the NCGOP budget committee, the members of the NCGOP Central Committee and the NCGOP Executive need to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into the current decade.
Those spots are plumb ones that usually go to the older, wealthy, members of our party, and not to the younger members, or to activists as often. Thus, such members don't always see the need for bottom-up management or technology.
Additionally, we MUST elect a state chairman who believes in these same values.
